The Mabo Centre undertakes a range of programs and projects, providing support to Traditional Owners through research, training, exchange and acceleration.
Land and Sea Rights
Traditional Owners have inherent rights derived from, and in connection to, their traditional land and waters. These inherent rights manifest from traditional law and custom and flow from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ continuing connection, use and occupation of Country.
Cultural Heritage
Cultural Heritage is the living link between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today and their Ancestors, creating a link over 65,000 years old.
Treaties & Agreements
Agreement making is critical to nation building and economic empowerment of Traditional Owners. The work of the Mabo Centre will provide resources for Traditional Owners to make better agreements to realise their own ambitions.
Clean Energy
It is essential that the Traditional Owners and First Nations communities are supported to realise their rights in the race to reach Net Zero and the Clean Energy sector.
