The Mabo Centre is a transformational joint initiative of the National Native Title Council and the University of Melbourne.

The Mabo Centre will support Traditional Owners in this transition and First Nations youth to become community leaders and drive economic change in their communities.

Research

The Mabo Centre will respond to the needs of Traditional Owner communities in providing research that will support governance, agreement-making, business and commercial development.

Contributing to the body of research into the Traditional Owner sector will provide the foundation for Mabo Centre programming and policy development.

The Mabo Centre will undertake research that will inform national policy development to support Traditional Owners achieve the best possible outcomes from the resources they control and influence.

Training

Supporting Indigenous diplomacy and leadership is critical to any effective realisation of Traditional Owners’ ambitions.

The Mabo Centre will work with Traditional Owners and their organisations to strengthen their capacities in executive leadership, economic empowerment and negotiations.

Exchange

Traditional Owners and their representative institutions hold enormous skills, knowledge and experience. Providing a place for sharing of that knowledge is essential for both support and benchmarking best practice.

The Mabo Centre will convene networks and connections for knowledge exchange and sharing effective agreement making.
